1. Veselica Spring Dance Concert | Fri, April 7, 7:30pm | Wagner Bundgaard Studio One, Dittmann Center, St. Olaf
St. Olaf’s international dance ensemble performs works from around the world. Apr. 6-8. Reception to follow performance.
2. Faculty Recital: Gao Hong, Pipa | Fri, April 7, 8:00pm – 9:30pm | Concert Hall, 1st St E, Northfield
Gao Hong, a renowned Chinese pipa player and composer, graduated from the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing where she studied with pipa master Lin Shicheng. She has received numerous awards and honors at home and abroad. In 2005, she became the first traditional musician to be awarded the prestigious Bush Artist Fellowship, and in 2012 she became the only musician in any genre to win four McKnight Artist Fellowships for Performing Musicians. She has received numerous commissions and has performed countless U.S. and world premieres of pipa concerti with organizations such as the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Heidelberg Philharmonic, Buenos Aires Philharmonic and others. She is also Guest Professor at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing.

4. Theater: August Osage County | Apr. 6-8 7:30pm, Apr. 8-9 2pm | Kelsey Theater, St. Olaf
Written by Tracy Letts, directed by Michelle Cowin Gibbs. The Westons are on the brink of implosion when the family’s patriarch mysteriously disappears forcing the family to reunite in this dark comedy. In an unexpected turn of events, the family confronts decades of secrets and lies. Winner of the 2008 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, August: Osage County exposes the dark side of a large Midwestern American family. 5. Sunday Concert: | Sun, April 9, 2pm – 3pm | Senior Center, 1651 Jefferson Pkwy
Sweet Jazz has been performing locally in the Northfield area since 2006, starting back then with just Christina Schwietz doing vocals and Peter Webb on piano in an exploration of jazz vocal standards. From those beginnings they have expanded to include David Miller on drums, flugelhorn, melodica, and Bruce Jensen on bass. Free will donations appreciated. Dessert served following the concert.
